OnStream staff manage projects and programs ranging from 20-person office moves to global data center upgrade initiatives, and we’ve learned that there is no ‘cookie cutter’ method to getting the best result from any group of people. We’re versed in the best practices from Six Sigma and the PMBOK, and we specialize on tailoring the key concepts of project management included in those organizations to the realities that face you, your staff, and your vendors.
We’re equally comfortable joining projects at the inception point and in mid-stream, and we build our engagement model accordingly. We begin our engagements by learning about the governance practices in your organization, and any that are already applied to the project. We optimize the efficiency of our projects by producing artifacts consistent with what members of your organization see every day, including:
- Kickoff materials and project/program manuals
- Meeting agenda and minutes
- Dashboard and detailed status reports
- RAID logs and RAID reporting
- Budget reporting and financial tracking
- Closeout documents, including final reports and project timelines
Using those tools and our client-first attitude, OnStream project managers foster a collegial team atmosphere. We encourage early identification of risks and issues, and we work together to mitigate risks before they become issues, and to reduce the impact of issues to the greatest extent possible. We’re equally comfortable chairing a meeting about WiFi signal remediation and reporting our findings in the boardroom.
Building and managing a good project plan is a foundational skill for an OnStream Project Manager. Our project and program managers have technical proficiency in the latest project management tools, and we produce plans and schedules at the appropriate level of detail for your project. We track and report on milestones and tasks as appropriate for the audience, and we review key tasks and their dependencies regularly. A good project schedule enables us to:
- Report on real-world performance against expectations
- Update project plans based on real-world performance of prior tasks
- Assign tasks according to resource availability, and reassign them based on staffing changes
- Manage dependencies along the critical path and provide early risk mitigation
